Kathleen Hamrick comes to the XPRIZE foundation with eight years of combined experience in entrepreneurship, technical writing, and growth marketing. Ms. Hamrick draws on her experience in both nonprofit and for-profit settings to support the XPRIZE Impact & Design team as a Senior Associate.
Prior to joining XPRIZE, Ms. Hamrick was instrumental in the global expansion of TechCrunch’s Startup Battlefield competition across emerging tech ecosystems in Africa, Australia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Before TechCrunch, she ran operations for an artificial intelligence startup; co-ordinated an interdisciplinary entrepreneurship program between the southeast’s largest startup incubator, Innovation Depot, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham; and helped secure a $6 million America’s Promise grant to support the Innovate Birmingham workforce development program -- designed to train 925 opportunity youth for high wage, high-demand jobs in the IT sector.
Ms. Hamrick holds a Bachelor of Science and a Certificate in Technology Commercialization from The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She obtained a certificate in Advanced Master Negotiation from Harvard’s Program on Negotiation in 2015. In her spare time, Ms. Hamrick occasionally runs 150+ mile ultramarathons and enjoys flying single engine prop planes at the Santa Monica airport. She dreams of someday building her own kit plane.
